This is one of my favorite books of all time. Yes, it’s not groundbreaking in any way but there’s something about the book and the characters that I love. The interactions between the main couple are natural and don’t seem forced like in other books.
Usually when two people are thrown together abruptly, authors have trouble building a rapport but that’s not a problem between Drew and Emerie. They have a natural chemistry that I like
There are always things I don’t like about books, and this is no exception. I hate Drew’s ex-wife. Such a bitch. I also don’t like the whole “oh, you eat burgers and stay thin, other women must hate you.” Can we most past that yet? I know, it’s a small thing, but it never fails to irritate me.
Drew is also a bit of a dick, which I did like lol, but sometimes it went a little too far. Especially when his actions had the potential to mess with Emerie’s livelihood. Again, nothing huge, just irritating.
Also, can we talk about what an asshole Baldwin is. God, he annoyed me. I reread this book a lot and there isn’t one instant where I don’t want to tell him to fuck off.
The main conflict is something that would get on most peoples’ nerves with how unfair it is and it always makes me mad. S kudos to the author for making me feel so many things lol.
There isn’t a lot of filler since the book is on the shorter side so it never feels like you’re wasting time on random events. I didn’t like how much Drew ogled Emerie but at this point, that’s just expected in the male POV of romance novels.
It took me a while to get to this review because I suck at time management but I really do love the book. It’s one of my go-to books that I read several times a year and I never question my love for it.
